Lil' Snippers Haircuts For Children

WOW -- From the moment we walked in, Ruby was grinning from ear to ear and so happy with everything. She got to select a PINK Barbie car to sit in. Then the gal asks her what video she wants to watch (each station has its own screen for the movie of their choice). She chose "Tangled" of course. Here Kristin is getting her seat-belted into her car for the hair cut.

When the gal was all done she asked Ruby if she wanted "Pixie dust" in her hair (some sort of glitter for hair).

(3 hair washes later and the pixie dust is still in her hair!)

This place is so wonderful for children -- everything necessary to make kids enjoy a haircut. I took one picture when I realized my batteries had died. Darn it. So the gal says "we have some batteries you can have!" "but I need 4 of them". She brought me 4 batteries and I was ready to continue photographing this fun event.

Now that's the Nordstrom-touch in child hair care!

Funny story -- in the morning we told Ruby about getting her hair cut at a new place. Ruby said "I don't want to go to a new place. I want to go to Melinda!" Melinda is the gal in Portland that does Kristin's hair and cut Ruby's hair only once, and Ruby didn't cooperate very well. Kristin doesn't even know how Ruby could remember Melinda's name because she only met her once. So on the way out of the Lil' Snippers Ruby says to Kristin "I don't want to go back to Melinda. I like this place."

Random Fun!

The kids wanted to wave good bye to their daddy as he left for work. They have been very creative lately, so the rug was their "nest", and the floor was "hot lava". They had to both be on the rug and look out the same window so that they could stay away from the hot lava -- hence Carson squatting down and Ruby looking over his head!

A great indoor activity when it has been raining for days! Plus, the twins LOVE egg salad sandwiches.

I found this old photo album with photos of Kristin at age 3 when we took her to Disneyland for the first time. The kids were so enamored by the pictures of their mommy doing something they long to do. To keep them from fighting over who could hold the album, I made them look separately.

Continuing with their creativity, when they get real quiet and are upstairs, you can bet they are making an "ANT HILL" with their parents' pillows. They drag all the pillows from the master bedroom into Carson's room, and proceed to stack them up and form an ant hill!

Here they are on another day doing the same thing. I do make them put all the pillows away when they are done and Carson is particularly good about carrying all the pillows into Kristin's room.

Katie Mac's Wedding

Kristin and Casey flew down to San Francisco to attend the wedding of a good friend of Kristin's from Bellevue Christian High School. The wedding was in Napa at a winery. Kristin was in the wedding. Kristin came home saying it was one of the most eloquent weddings she has ever taken part in with every detail thought through. Many of their friends from high school were there and one of their friends who has known Katie since preschool officiated. Bellevue Christian classmates -- lovely ladies who are all mothers now. Kristin with one of the other bridesmaids.

Katie had this two story hotel room with a balcony overlooking the vineyard for her and the other girls to get ready in. What a gorgeous setting for before photos.

Katie brought in professional hair and make-up artists to help each of the bridesmaids get ready.

The rehearsal dinner was held at another winery, complete with an entire pig that had been bar-b-qued under ground and provided some of the best pulled pork Kristin and Casey have ever eaten.

Make A Joyful Noise Unto The Lord

SINGING

I love singing and having music playing at home or in my car and have shared that love with the twins. They both enjoy singing as well, and most days when they are being put down for naps or bedtime at night, the routine is to read books, pray and sing a song. I was taking them to and from preschool and we would sing most of the way. Here are their favs right now:

On the way home from school one day we passed by a sign advertising apartments for rent with BIG red and yellow balloons to catch your attention. I hear Carson in the back seat saying to himself

"Yellow and red balloons. Red and yellow balloons. Red and yellow, yellow and red. RED AND YELLOW BLACK AND WHITE, THEY ARE PRECIOUS IN HIS SIGHT, JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD!"

Words to Remember

I am down with the twins this week and want to post some fun things they said (this blog is sort of like my baby book for both the kids and helps me -- and others -- remember wonderful moments that we don't soon want to forget).

Carson: Grandma do you hear that siren? It's a firetruck and the firemen are going to help someone. We need to pray for them!

Grandma: I will read two books before naps and sing one song for you.

Carson: That makes two songs because there are two of us! (so my 3 year old grandson is doing math now?)

Sitting at a red light we saw a big semi truck drive by. Carson asked me what I thought was in the truck and since there was no identifying words, I told him I didn't know, but we could make some guesses. I suggested tires (because there was a tire store on the corner) or maybe toys going to a toy store. Carson said "No". So I said maybe food going to the grocery store, to which Carson replied "Silly grandma. Produce trucks take produce to grocery stores and that's not a produce truck!"

So I asked "So what is produce?" and he replied "Silly grandma, fruits and vegetables!" (when did he get so smart?)

Grandma: Driving home from the library we were playing I-Spy.

I said "Look, there is a church!"

Carson: "Grandma, that's a Catholic Church!"

(so now he reads, too???)

I was in the upstairs bathroom getting the kids ready for baths. Carson went into his parent's bathroom to go potty since Ruby was using the other one. He came running back to me saying "Grandma, mommy's bathroom is out of paper towels!"

I have noticed that when the twins are playing together often Carson will pretend to be a baby and she will be the mommy.

One morning Carson awoke earlier than Ruby and was downstairs with me. When I heard her we both went upstairs to her room. He walked right up to her bed and said "Good morning Mommy", to which she replied "Good morning Baby".

New Hat & New Shoes

Ruby is modeling her new hat that Kristin got. It's a designer hat (can't remember the designer's name!) that Kristin got at Target. I guess Target is trying to get into the designer children's clothes business. JUST REMEMBERED THE DESIGNER'S NAME

MISSONI Carson wanted to know what he got, so Kristin pulled out these brand new Adidas high-top shoes that were in the closet that finally fit him.

Trying to get him to sit still long enough for a photo is another story.

I was playing around with my newly discovered photo fix on my computer and tried making this next picture black and white -- then I couldn't get it back to color! But it was too cute to not include.

Chores!

I never really said they had to do this. I was vacuuming and they both asked to help. Ruby did the carpet and Carson did the floors. I might add, they did a very good job, too. Hope they can see the fun in it for another 15 years........

Yes, dogs, that's your fur he is vacuuming up (plus a few crumbs from lunch).
