Kruger Farm, Sauvie Island

On Saturday Oct 2 we went to the Kruger Farm on Sauvie Island

If you look back on my blog to October 2008 and scroll down to the last one for that month you will see where we went to a birthday party for Memphis when the twins were 4 months old. I always wanted to go back because it was such a fun place with wonderful produce. We all had a fabulous time, especially the kiddo's.

Carson LOVES, LOVES, LOVES tractors, so he was in heaven over this giant toy! We all got to take a ride on the trailer to one of the pumpkin patches on the farm and select the perfect pumpkin.

"Hold on tight little boy to that special pumpkin".

He looked for an "iddo" one (that's "little" in Carson-speak)

Such a strong little man who insisted on pulling his lil sis. She loved it.

"GO THIS WAY!"

The farm also has U-Pick flowers. We didn't pick, just patted and sniffed!

Ruby wanted to pat the flowers!

Here she is clapping with delight over sniffing the flower.

Ruby called this a flower tunnel. The sun flowers must have been 10 feet tall and were leaning over to make this walk-through path.

The farm sells organic pizzas and the twins devoured this one.

Having Fun

Ruby discovered that on the bottom of each of the boxes in the new storage unit was a sticker. Yes, she and Carson had to dump out all the toys so they could get every sticker. Here she is putting it on her arm. At one point she had 4 stickers going up her arm! If you click on the photos to enlarge them you will see that both Ru and Carson concentrate with the help of their tongue. In the last one Ruby has her tongue in her cheek. Their new favorite position to watch Little Einsteins!

Look at how little man has his feet tucked up on the wall, sitting so comfortably!

Good thing there are two sides to this door. They both just sat down in the space then smiled back at me.

Wet Sand on a Warm Day

It got up to 80 degrees while I was there, so the wet sand felt good to play in. They played in the sand box for well over an hour, and were such a mess when they were done. I gave them dinner outside, then stripped them off and took them upstairs for a bath. But it was sure fun!

BOX

Aunt Stephanie bought this toy storage shelf for the kids and I brought it down with me. When I arrived I put it in the garage and the twins saw it and of course were very interested. I told them we had to wait for Daddy to come home and put it together. They were OK with that.

At dinner Carson prayed "thank you for this day, thank you for the food and help Daddy come home and open the box!" As soon as Casey walked through the door they were on him about getting the box open!

They were quite exited to play with the white Styrofoam that was inside the box and thought that must be what was so special!

You can hear Ruby saying "Wow, Wow, Wow" as she is rubbing the box

and then she says "Very Cool!"

When Casey gets the box open Carson says "Where are the trucks?" There were pictures of toy trucks on the front of the box and I believe Carson thought he was getting trucks.

Carson wants a Pillow!

For the past week Kristin and family have been vacationing with Casey's family in a beach house on the Oregon Coast. They have been having a fabulous time, enjoying the sand, water and chasing sea gulls. The twins have slept in their pack & plays in the same room and have done very well, taking 3-4 hours naps after having so much fun playing at the beach. The room where they are sleeping has bunk beds. Carson has become capable of climbing out of his crib, both at home and the pack & play. When Kristin went in to check on them before she went to bed, she learned that Carson had crawled out of the pack & play, got the bed pillow off the bunk bed, threw the pillow into the pack & play, crawled back into the pack & play and was peacefully sleeping on the pillow. I guess he had a need, and met that need all by himself, without disturbing anyone, including Ruby!

Nanny Rach comes to visit Grammy Julee

Kristin and her family were going to a beach house in Oregon with Casey's family for a week, so I invited Nanny Rach to come visit me and have some much needed R&R. When she arrived she told me her camera had broken last week so I gave her my camera and told her to take whatever pictures she wanted. These are a selection of what she saw and what meant enough to her to photograph.

The very first thing Rachael said to me was "You don't know how much I LOVE the beach!" This was a perfect place for her to relax and unwind.

Rachael took several walks on our beach. Cruise ship leaving Seattle on the way to Alaska as seen from our deck.

Rachael has never been on a ferry so we went across and went shopping in Bellevue. She was so helpful to me with shopping, and I believe she enjoyed the trip back on the ferry. The trip across in the morning was NOTHING. There was so much fog you literally couldn't see anything! Thankfully, it cleared up for the ride home and she got these photos.

Mt. Rainier is visible in this photo -- barely.

These last two shots were taken from the ferry as we were coming into Bainbridge. The sun was beginning to set. It looks like diamonds on the water!
