This and That

I love how Ruby looks like a sophisticated young girl drinking her hot cider, and Carson is still a fun-loving boy slurping  down his hot cocoa with marshmallows!

Kristin took the kids to this really cool park near their house.  Looks like fun!

When the kids were at my house recently, I was going to fix some lunch.  My cupboards were rather bare, so when Carson asked for a PB&J sandwich, I had to tell him I was out of peanut butter and he couldn't have just a jam sandwich -- to which he replied. . .
"Can I have a jam and mayonnaise sandwich?"
Yikes -- he must have read my mayonnaise blog entry!  "No buddy, grandma will not give you a jam and mayonnaise sandwich!  Besides not tasting very good, your mother wouldn't like it!"

These were taken on Thanksgiving at Grandma Carrie's house.

I just love that Ruby is still wearing this little yellow sweater that was knit by a friend of mine when Kristin was a baby.  Ruby has worn it since she was 2 or 3.  It's so small on her now, they call it a "shrug"  (which I think means short wrap  -- or it means outgrown sweater that is too soft and sweet to stop wearing!)

While the adults were still lingering at the dinner table, the kids quietly colored.  Wow, that's great!

So Proud Of Ruby Grace

Ruby received this in the mail.  Something to be very proud of.
We love you Sweetie!

Bread Bears

Back when my girls were young we used to bake bear shaped bread.  I thought it would be fun to do with the twins.  They LOVED it and did a great job.  First I demonstrated by shaping a bear.  Then Miss Ru took her turn and finally Carson.  They turned out so cute and were really yummy too.  We ate mine fresh hot from the oven.  The other two went home with the kids to show their Daddy.

After we shaped them we painted on the "paint and glue" (egg and water).  The kids were so careful with this part.

I warned the kids in advance that sometimes as they rise and bake the body parts shift.  Carson's nose ended up on top like a hat -- to which he picked it off to munch.  One of Ruby's eyes was off to the right of his face.  But all was well -- they still tasted great!

Here they are in the front seat of Kristin's car, heading to their new  home.

P.S.
Kristin sent this to me.  On their way home from my house, Miss Ruby fell asleep. (and they only live 12 miles from me!)  Why is that noteworthy?  I can't even tell you the last time she slept in the car.  Neither of the twins slept in the car, even as infants.  They just didn't do it.  So this is a surprise.  I guess I wore her out!

Operation Christmas Child

This was the week the Christmas boxes were turned in to my church.  The small shoe size boxes went into this standard size box and then onto the trucks.   I volunteered one night and was blessed by a brother and sister who were mid 20's that brought in 4 boxes.  They had immigrated to the USA 11 years ago from Belarus.  When they were just children, they had received Christmas boxes from Operation Christmas Child.  The young man said his most special gift was a yo yo.  How great to see this come full circle in their lives.

These were some of the boxes that came in Sunday morning.  Hard to believe there will be millions on these boxes sent out.

Our church puts the boxes into this semi truck and they will make their way down to Ontario, CA to a processing center.  From there they will be sent to 7 different countries.  Other processing centers in the USA will send their boxes to other countries.  Literally, millions of boxes will go out to children all over the world.  I registered Carson and Ruby's boxes on line and got a bar code.  When their boxes arrive, I will get an email and learn where in this world they ended up.

Leaves, Leaves and More Leaves

We have been having some real cold weather with high winds.  Of course that makes all the Fall leaves, fall.  Today the kids needed to get some energy out before I took them to my house, so we went to a favorite park.  I think they had more fun with the piles and piles of leaves, then the play structures.  Carson quickly learned that if he kicked the leaves into the wind, they all blew back into his face.

The movie portion of my camera wasn't working quite right and kept shutting off.  I think it was too cold to function -- I know I sure was.

Below he is kicking into the wind, but shutting his eyes.  Who would have thought piles of leaves could be so much fun.

Kat pulling a wheelie on the bouncy motorcycle!

Where's Carson?

It was home for some hot cocoa and a warm bath. . . .
