COUSINS - SECOND

Cousins -- what could be better?
Megan and Kristin are cousins -- 3 months apart in age.
Now their children, which are second cousins,  are 3 months apart in age and got to spend the afternoon together.
Emma who will be 5 in Sept, joined Carson and Ruby for a fun time of eating outside, playing dress up and dancing all over the back yard.  It was so great to see them actually interacting and enjoying each other's company.
Miss Lydia, the 2 1/2 year old was taking a sleep-ride with her Daddy, since she hadn't been sleeping well at her other grandparent's house and arrived rather out of sorts.  Their method of getting her to take a nap when not at home is to drive, and that is what her Daddy did for several hours.  Hence, she isn't in any of the pictures.

Emma had gone to OMSI (children's science museum in Portland) the day before and was cuddling her new dolphin friend while they ate lunch.

Carson had decided early on that he was going to be a super hero for the day.  Sure glad the Capt. America costume from Halloween still fits.

Who says Capt. American can't wear a crown?  He is trying on one of the crowns Ruby made and proud of it, too.

In an attempt to keep him from bugging the girls who were making the crowns, we kept asking him to go make a Lego creation.  Here he is proudly showing me his new car.

And this is his Lego boat with a steam shovel.

Quick change -- now he is a knight with Capt. America hat.

The girls spent about 30 minutes quietly making their own crowns.

With their costumes in place, they were ready for the dance performance.

I love how they are holding hands --

Smile Emma -- I mean Tinkerbell.

Complete with a ring and arm bands.

I love how Ruby has the same grip around Emma as she often puts on her brother.

Time for some group hugs!  Ahh, sweet memories were made this day.  Hopefully they can get together more often.  When I told Emma that Ruby and Carson were her second cousins -- she asked "who is my first cousin!"
Well, you don't have one of them yet......

When asked what the name of their performance was Emma answered "Deep Sea Dancers!"

Carson is definitely the boy in the group --

LOVE IS. . . . . . . .

At school the twins were doing an art project of some sort, and there was a
"Love is......." section.    Carson put
LOVE IS. . . . .  GOING TO PALM SPRINGS!
Ahhh, my mother would be so happy to know that the timeshare condo they bought years ago has trickled down to the 3rd. generation and continues to bring so much joy and LOVE!

Columbia County Fair at St. Helens

Ruby and Carson's first trip to a fair (Carson kept calling it a "festival").  St. Helens is only about 5 miles from Grandma Carrie's house.  It happen to be Senior Citizen's Day, so things were rather low key -- which was great for the twins first experience at a fair.
Ruby loved the pigs and had to see them twice.

I love how the two of them are so comfortable in each other's space.  I guess that is what they call twin bonding.  It's fun to observe, and will be interesting as they grow older.

Wow, Miss Ru is marching and tooting at the same time!

Enjoying the caterpillar  roller coaster ride with Grandma C.
Great memories were made this day!  That Ruby smile is such a little Kristin face....
( I wonder if their health conscious Grandma Carrie and their dietitian Auntie Lindsey gave them real fair food????  I mean, corn dogs and cotton candy???  I haven't heard.)

LOCKS OF LOVE -- WIGS FOR KIDS

Today was the big day --
Kristin has been talking about this for a few weeks, and I have been doing research into donating Ruby's gorgeous hair to either Locks of Love or Wigs for Kids.  (one required 10 inches and the other 12 inches)  I believe Kristin said it came to 10"!
It would have been a shame to not use her thick, beautiful hair for this purpose -- and it will give Ruby something to be very proud of herself for doing.
Way to go Miss Ru.
Your hair is going to make a difference in a child's life.  I remember that your mommy had her first big hair cut when she was also 5 and the gal who cut it said "It's not fair that a 5 year old has thicker and more hair than I do!"
You look adorable and we are all so proud of you for sharing this gift of hair.

Taken on the steps as they were heading to the kid's hair salon.  Can you tell they are five!!!!

Kristin said that the children's hair salon knew all about Locks of Love and had the forms to fill out and would take care of sending it for them.  PLUS, when Kristin got ready to pay for the two haircuts, the gal said "Locks of Love haircuts are free!"  Sweet.......
Kristin said that she (not Ruby) cried as the 10 inches was cut off.  Ahhh!  Ruby was so excited and ready to get it cut -- but the best part is the Cinderella movie she got to select and the lollipop afterwards!

And nice hair cut, too, Little Man!

After the haircuts, it was home to enjoy the sprinklers with Daddy.
