Fun Words To Remember This Thanksgiving Visit

The first morning at breakfast Ruby said:
"When I woke up I was talking to Carson, but he was still sleeping, so I talked to myself!"
When asked what they liked to eat best on Thanksgiving,
Ruby said "Pumpkin Pie". Carson said "Cranberry sauce on my bun"
When asked what they were most thankful for Ruby said "My Daddy"
Carson said "My Mommy".

Cold Beach Walk

On Friday it stopped raining long enough to take the kids on a beach walk. The steps down are very slippery, so I was trying to be very careful with the little ones. I didn't know Kristin was taking this picture of us.
It was so good to get outside and let them run, play and toss rocks into the water. We thought this fallen tree looked like a dinosaur.
Where's Carson????
This GIANT yellow rope on the beach became a snake.
Here they are wrestling the snake's head!
I LOVE the creativity of these children.

More Fun

Casey was so excited to not have to bring the pack & plays this time. The kids are big enough to sleep in big beds (big enough to not need booster seats or potty seats). Traveling and visiting just got that much easier with these rapidly growing twins! They said the beds were so comfy and cozy that they even took long naps each day this visit.
Auntie Kat sharing a piano moment with the twins.
Carson blessed my heart at one point during the day by going over to the piano and playing the keys and singing "Jesus Loves Me This I Know".
The twins LOVE books. I went to our Bainbridge Island Library and checked out 28 children's books (that was all I could fit in my big bag!) Since we had some pretty lousy weather, we spent most days inside, and reading is always a way to entertain them. Ruby noticed that she and I are the only two family members with blue eyes. (if you click on the photo to enlarge it, you can see how beautifully blue her eyes really are!)

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Dinner was at our house. Bill's brother and wife came over from Bellevue to share the day with us -- true to form, they come bearing gifts for the twins. Ruby got a princess castle and Carson named his a "hunters hut"! Here Carson is helping Great Auntie Steph and Great Uncle Jimmy put up Ruby's castle.
Stephanie felt that she could get it put together better if she got inside. Carson was BIG EYES watching her. Hey! Can we come in too????
I don't know why I didn't take pictures of Casey, quietly on the other side of the room, putting up Carson's hut by himself. I guess it was more entertaining to watch Jim and Stephanie -- at least it was for Carson and Ru.
THANK YOU GREAT AUNTIE STEPH AND GREAT UNCLE JIMMY FOR THE COOL TENTS!

Over The River and Through the Woods.......

Kristin, Casey and the kids arrived yesterday for Thanksgiving. It wasn't over the river and through the woods, but in some ways it was because of the HEAVY rain that poured down on them the entire drive to Grandmother's house.
They took a ferryboat ride this morning to go visit with some of Kristin's friends from Bellevue Christian High School and their children. I was telling the kids about going on a ferry ride and Ruby asked if it was like "Tinkerbell". Then she asked me if the ferry flew. (she had her ferry and fairy mixed up!) It was cold on that ferry, but they loved it. (when they got home today Carson came running up to me and announced that when he grows up he wants to be a ferry captain!)
Georgia is Annie's little girl who is a few weeks younger than the twins. She has lots and lots of dress up clothes and shoes and this is how they came walking out after fixing themselves up! The kids had a great time together and the girls would be fast friends if they lived close to each other. Carson had fun too! This is Georgia's momma, Annie. Thanks Annie for having a play-date for the kids (and big kids, too).

Pinkalicious

Today Kristin took Ruby to Pinkalicious the Musical in Portland with her friend, Stacey and her daughter Sloan. Must have been heavenly for two little girls who adore the color PINK!
Kristin told me that it was so fun to watch Ruby experiencing this event. Miss Ru was on the edge of her seat, clapping and laughing at the right moments. On the way to the musical Sloan was showing off her bracelets that she was wearing and announced that to be fancy you had to wear bracelets. Ruby said "I don't need bracelets. I'm wearing the dress my Grandma Julee made me and that makes me fancy!" I LOVE IT.

Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin

After trick or treating, the kids (all 3 of them) relaxed and watch Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin dvd. What could be better???
Carson is still holding tight to his bat trick or treating bag. Funny thing is that both kids gave their bags of candy to Mommy to put away and the rest of the week, neither one asked for it or the candy. I'm sure that will change in years to come!

Trick or Treating is All Done

The kids knew that when they returned from trick or treating, they could select ONE piece of candy to eat. Ruby went for the Tootsie Pop and Carson (man after my own heart) chose a candy bar. Ruby worked on hers for quite a while, but Carson made his disappear in seconds! Does this look like the face of a boy who would share his candy bar with his Grandma?
Are you kidding???? GONE IN 60 SECONDS!

Halloween Night -- At Last

This year Ruby was Alice in Wonderland, wearing a little dress that my Grandma Katharine had made for Kristin when she was 2 (hence it is short!). Ruby was delighted to be Alice.
Ruby and Kristin greeting trick or treaters at their front door. Both kids enjoyed giving candy to the treaters and wanted to give them LOTS of it! Casey completely out-did himself with this robot costume for little man. Carson has been saying he wanted to be a robot for about a month and I'm sure Casey was thinking about it for a while too. Casey actually had more things that he had planned to do, but in the afternoon as he was putting it together, it was iffy if Carson would really want to wear it. So he didn't go into the detail that he originally planned, but no one knew the difference. When it came time to go out in the neighborhood, Carson stepped right up and put on the robot and wore it proudly. (when Casey sounded a bit disappointed at not being able to make the costume as elaborate as planned, I reminded him he has probably 10 more Halloweens to make costumes for Carson)
Something that Casey hadn't planned was the fact that the box came down so low that Carson couldn't bend his knees very well and ended walking rather stiff-legged and really walked like you might envision a robot walking. He almost tipped over trying to go up the stairs and Casey had to stay close by so he didn't topple over!
