He Is In My Heart!

Tonight Kristin and Casey took the kids for a ride in their new Burley Bike Trailer after dinner. Kristin said to Carson "We need to hurry because God is going to be putting the sun away!" To that Carson replied "How can God do that mommy? He is in my heart!"
Yes, Buddy. Jesus Loves you and lives in your heart!
AND He can make the sun set and rise!

Hood-To-Coast Results

Kristin just learned that their Team Adivas came in second in the corporate women's category! Way to go ladies!
This picture is her team at the finish line. (Kristin 2nd from left, standing)
This is her van team members at the finish line. I believe Kristin ran the last leg of the 200 miles, hence the #40 still on her shirt and running shoes on her feet!

Kristin's team captain just sent out their individual results. Here are Kristin's....

Leg 1..... 50:18 6.75 miles (7:45 minute/mile pace)

Leg 2..... 42:00 5.23 miles (8 minute/mile pace)

Leg 3..... 37.50 5.35 miles (7 minute/mile pace)

Burley Bike Trailer

After having SOOOO much fun with the Burley Bike Trailer on vacation, they had to buy one!
(I love that they have on their helmets and seat belts)

Lawn Boy

Anyone need a good lawn-boy?

Hood-To-Coast - 30th Anniversary

Kristin ran in her 4th Hood-to-Coast race this weekend. The 15,000 runners (1250 teams) start on top of Mt. Hood on Friday morning and end at the Oregon Coast on Saturday. She was part of an all women's team from Adidas, called
"The Adivas". There are 12 per team, with 6 members per van. (Kristin is 3rd from right in photo). This is the longest relay race in the world, covering 200 miles. Teams from 50 states and 35 countries compete. Each team member runs about 3 legs that are around 5-10 miles each. Kristin ran about 20 miles all total and said she did her best times ever.
As they ran through Portland Friday evening, Casey took the twins down to see their mommy and cheer her on. Carson asked "mommy, when can I run this race?"
The last two photos were taken at the finish line. (Kristin is #40) Her team did very well. (notice their official team name on the jerseys that Adidas made for them)

Backyard Cool Down

Even Snowy and Sonny wanted to cool down! (if you click on the picture below you will see that Snowy's tongue is out, just like the kids!)
This was Carson doing the Hokey-Pokey (and putting his back-side in!)

Franklin Elementary School Playground

Today Kristin and I took the kids to the local elementary school to ride bikes and play. Carson insisted on riding his PlasmaCar all the way there, and he did! Ruby is just beginning to ride her little princess bike and is doing very well. Ruby didn't want to take off her princess helmet on the playground!
That pink ball to Carson's right is Ruby with the helmet on, doing the swing "all by myself!"
This little monkey is so strong!
And he is ALL-BOY!
I was being rather nostalgic today as the kids played at this school yard. This is the school I would stroll the babies by each time I took them for a walk when they were wee ones. I remember looking over at the children playing on the play equipment and thinking how big they were and that it would be a long time before my little ones would be big enough to play on that equipment. That times has come. I remember when we brought the kids up to the soccer field at this school when they were just beginning to walk, and how they would fall down often on the grass, but get back up and try again. (see Aug 10, 2009 on my blog and scroll down to where they are playing on the local school grounds). Wow, time sure flies when your grandchildren are growing up!

Big Kids Beds

Yesterday was the first step in getting big kids beds. Casey took the front side off the cribs. Both kids were so excited to have something different. They both stayed put in the beds and didn't get out. I snuck in while they were sleeping and took these pictures. The flash didn't wake them up!
At 6:15 AM I peeked in at Ruby and she was sitting up in the bed, so I clicked a picture. It was dark in her room and I didn't realize her eyes were shut. She was awake, but still didn't get out of the bed by herself. Carson enjoyed a book in bed in the morning.

Sand Puppy!

When Kristin was in Jr. Lifeguards they called kids that got wet and rolled in the sand "sand puppies". Today Ruby did her version of that. She was having such fun in the wet sand and it felt so good to rub it all over her legs and arms. Ahhh, to be a kid again!

Bikes

This is the first time I have seen them on their bikes. I was so surprised at how Carson takes off! Ruby needed help but was so pleased with herself. It was fun to have the other grandparents over for dinner. It's the first time I have seen Ray since Easter Sunday when he was still in the hospital! He looks GREAT! (thank you God!)
When Ray and Carrie arrived, both kids were delighted. Carson comes running into the house telling me "I have two Grandmas, I have two Grandmas!"

SUPER Capes!

There is a fun story that goes with these SUPER CAPES! Right around the twins' b.day a package came in the mail with these wonderful, handmade capes. The return address was Tennessee, but no name. Kristin didn't know anyone from Tennessee and neither did I. So there was no thank you note to be written! WHO SENT THEM? Several months later I was talking to our dear friend, Cat, from Aptos, CA and she asked me how Kristin liked the capes for the twins????? She had ordered them from a gal who was having a fund-raiser for their foreign adoption, so that is why they came from TN. And Cat's name was not inside like it should have been
THANK YOU KENNY, CAT, MAIZIE AND LUCY FOR THE SUPER CAPES. WE LOVE THEM!
Kristin wants to know who is going to put french braids in Ruby's
hair when Nanny Rach leaves????

Dentist Appointment

Today was their second visit to the Dentist. Carson was so excited and thrilled to have this appointment -- Ruby, not so! In the waiting room when the hygienist came to get Carson, he immediately opened his mouth wide! She complimented him on that. As he was following her down the hall Kristin heard the hygienist say "Carson, you can close your mouth till I'm ready for you!" (so cute -- he was ready to open wide!!!!)
Both allowed the hygienist to clean the teeth and Carson allowed the Dentist to take a peek and count the teeth -- Ruby, on the other hand didn't want to have a THING to do with the really really tall man as seen in the second photo of her.

Look what bloomed in their yard while they were away on vacation. Wow, that's a gorgeous dahlia. Good job, Casey. You have a green thumb!

Family Vacation to Sunriver, Oregon

Kristin, Casey, twins, Auntie Lindsey, Grandma Carrie and Grandpa Ray all enjoyed a week in Sunriver at a lovely vacation rental complete with bikes with a kid carrier and everything they could possibly want. The weather was in the 80's and they enjoyed swimming, fishing, biking and anything else you can do on vacation. Lots of "firsts" happened for Ruby and Carson and fun memories were made. Kristin, Lindsey and Casey all sent me photos and I tried to organize them into a fun vacation blog. (I like doing this because it becomes a pictorial history that the kids and others enjoy looking back at). Little man is always hungry -- Looks like he is enjoying a snack on Granpa Ray's BIG lap! Ruby and Carson got to be a cowboy and girl, complete with hats and ponies. Is Miss Ru posing or does she have an itch on her back?? Carson rode the pony, but not Ruby! She wasn't ready for that adventure, yet!
I knew when Ray and Carrie got the twins fishing vests when they were only a few weeks old that they had a future in fish. This was their first time fishing and it was a hit. Would you believe, Grandpa Ray even cooked up the trout they caught so they could taste it for breakfast!
Ruby figures out how to fish AND get a snuggle at the same time
Check out the HUGE fish Ruby caught! (look real close....)
Now that's a very approving look from brother.
This was the one that became part of breakfast.
There was a community pool to enjoy each day. Carson was brave enough for the slide. It wasn't as fast as they thought. Grandma Carrie helped him get in and mommy was waiting to catch him at the bottom. He is somewhere in between! Ruby didn't want to have a thing to do with the water slide!
Ruby went under, and wasn't a happy camper!
Fun with Auntie Lindsey
Gotta love those water noodles! (or as the kids called them "water poodles")
There were bikes at the rental house and one carrier. They actually rented another carrier so both Kristin and Casey could pull a kid to the park. The little kids LOVED it and the big kids got all the exercise
Ice cream is a big part of being on vacation. Love that goat-tee on Carson.
Lots of bar-b-ques and eating outside. Carson chowed down on the ribs (eating more than Kristin) I don't' blame him -- they look yummy, Casey.
Another first for the twins was sleeping in a big bed -- together! Their pediatrician told Kristin and Casey to keep multiples in a crib for as long as possible because it is so much easier. So at home they are still in cribs. (both of them have fallen out of the crib at one time or another, and they know that trying to climb out can be painful). Therefore, they have the mentality of when they wake up, they call (or holler) for someone to come get them. Well, in the big bed where they could very easily gotten out by themselves, they both called and waited for someone to come get them. (I love it!)
In the bathroom was a lovely decorative bowl of pine cones. Carson, who got his words mixed up asked his mommy "Why are those raccoons in the house?" She told him they were pine cones and there were there for decoration to which he said "Mommy, that's really silly. They belong outside!"
On the way driving home Ruby said "Mommy there is a donkey bus!" "Look they are peeking out the windows at me." Kristin and Casey were laughing so hard. It was a horse trailer and you could see their big horse eyes looking through the windows.
