First Dance Class

Last week for 5 days the twins were in a little dance class. There were 13 girls and 1 boy! Carson didn't know the difference. Both were delighted to be there! Parents (or nannies) were not allowed in the room, but could watch from a 1 way mirror. On the first morning Ruby was putting up a fuss and wanted her Nanny Rach with her. The teacher was very wise and kind, but also firm and told her that mommies and nannies were not allowed in the room and that the door was going to be shut and she wouldn't be able to come in -- at that point Ruby turned off the crying switch and was perfectly fine! Kristin and Casey were able to go on the last day and observe. Both were surprised at how strong and coordinated Carson is compared to the others. He was by far the most coordinated in the group. Ruby had a ball and especially that she was among the girls who were "completely girled-out" as Kristin said with tutu's and bows and tights, etc. Carson didn't give a rip about what he wore. He was just happy to be getting his energy out in a fun, playful way. (I know it's not real clear pictures, but I believe Ruby is to Carson's right. Double click on the pictures to enlarge them)

Fun In the Afternoon

Just got this cute picture from Kristin of the kids on their deck, probably helping Daddy with his garden.
(got a text from Nanny Rach who told me something Ruby said to her yesterday "Nanny Rach, Grandma Julee's deck is way cooler than our deck!" Glad you like it, Missy. Come see me soon.... )

Out of the Mouths of Babes.........

At the breakfast table
Ruby: My daddy smells!
Grandma: Does your Daddy smell good?
Ruby: My Daddy smells really good.
Grandma: What does your Daddy smell like?
Ruby: My Daddy smells like a Daddy!
Again at breakfast
Carson: These eggs have protein in them!
Ruby: Grandma, what do the raisins have in them?
Grandma: (grabbing the container to read.......) They have potassium and fiber.
Carson: Banana's have potassium too?
(gosh they are smart. When I told Kristin, she told me that often when she gives the kids food she will tell them what is in it and why it is good for them. SO SMART of her!)
Kissing the kids goodbye in the car....
Ruby: Grandma, I LOVE coming to your house, but now it's time for me to leave!

Random Fun

Ruby made a birthday cake from play dough with 3 candles. Family HOT TUB TIME!

Fun On Grandma's Beach

We took a large pail down to the beach with all their toys in it. They decided to fill the large pail with water, and it was such great exercise for them. They trotted back and forth with small pails of water to fill the large pail. Notice how sissy is leaning on her bro for help! There's that concentration tongue again!
Always need a snack on the beach. Ruby plopped herself down right behind her bro. He wasn't too keen on the idea, until I suggested they are like a train, with Carson being the engine and Ruby the caboose!
"Ruby, where is Seattle?"
If you enlarge this photo below you will see bulging in her pockets. She filled her pockets with crab legs. Kristin cleaned out the pockets when we got home -- she thought. Several hours later I picked up the sweatshirt and it smelled like dead fish -- it had a small dead crab about the size of a silver dollar still in it. That jacket got washed real quick, along with the clothes they were wearing that, of course, got wet!
"What are you looking for, Carson-boy?"
Carson was all over the swing this time. He went so high, Kristin and I were a bit nervous, and Ruby didn't want to have a thing to do with it. He is so ALL-BOY when it comes to just about everything!

Quack Quack Quack

Battle Point Park on Bainbridge has a lovely duck pond. I often walk Snowy there and wish the twins were with me to see all the ducks. Today we went to feed them. I believe it's the first time the kids have fed ducks. They LOVED it. Carson was all giggles. The ducks are very human friendly, and even tried to take the bread right out of the kids' hands. We finally retreated to the park bench where the kids had a bit more distance between them and the hungry little duckies.
If you click to enlarge the photo below you will see their expressions and reactions when the ducks touched their shoes and tried to get the bread out of their hands.
How quickly the ducks learn that we are all out of bread and retreat back to the pond.
Carson! Don't put your foot in the water! (yeah right......) Test, test, test.

Battle Point Park, Bainbridge Is. -- Again!

Kristin and Casey surprised me with another visit this week. She had been gone for almost 2 weeks on business (Germany, NY City and Austin, TX) and needed some family time. Of course we headed for the park with the diggers (plus other fun things to do).
The giant xylophones make such beautiful music.
Ruby decided she had enough with playing the xylophone -- she busted a dance move for all to enjoy!
