Leaving Grammy's House

The top two photos were sent to me from Kristin's cell phone as they were driving home. Carson wrapped his blankie around his head and didn't want it taken off. Ruby wasn't quite as dramatic. The bottom two photos are as they are leaving our house. Their Daddy got them two DVD screens for the car so they can be entertained for the long journey to Grandmother's house. It sure worked -- as you can see how tuned in they are and ready for the long drive home.

Battlepoint Park, Bainbridge Island

We will sure have to go back to this Battlepoint Park someday when it's not biting cold! It has this area for toddlers, and an area for older children. Kristin called it a "children's museum of parks". There were so many interactive toys to experience. Carson cried when we left! This is a musical area. Bill was showing Ruby a giant xylophone.
Here is a replica of a ferry boat, but you can't tell because I was so close up to capture their cute faces coming through the port holes.

Someone Loves Her Grandpa Willy

A good night hug, and let me try your hat on...... Ruby would run to Bill and want to be picked up. They spent a lot of time reading books and playing. Bill says she reminds him so much of little Kristin. Carson, on the other hand, is a Grammy's-boy!

Random Pix at Grammy's House

We were so blessed to have friends from church who shared toys, pack & plays, and high chairs with me so that Kristin didn't have to lug it all up here. It meant their car wasn't overloaded. The kids loved all the different toys.
Carson got up from one of his naps and was really mellow and still seemed tired. He laid in his mommy's lap for the longest time in this sleepy position. Then he was ready for more play!

Piano Time -- Wish Auntie Kat Was Here

Unfortunately, Auntie Kat was ill on Thanksgiving and wasn't able to join our family gathering ("we missed you so much Katharine") This would have been her thing to do with the kids, since she loves playing the piano and started lessons at age 5. She will be the one to excite the twins about the piano someday.

Thanksgiving at Grammy's House

It's so great to have a son-in-law who knows his way around a turkey. Casey did a great job of carving. Kristin contributed a wonderful roasted brussel spout recipe (yes, I said brussel sprouts!)
Ruby enjoying one of Grammy's home made Parkerhouse rolls. Yummy!

Cute Carson Story -- Going Down Stairs Backwards!

Having a 2 story house, it was important to teach the kids how to go downstairs backwards. Carson has taken it to a new level. When he knows he is going to go downstairs, he will get down on all fours and turn around backwards -- about 5 FEET before he gets to the stairs, and starts crawling backwards towards the stairs. It's the funniest thing to see. Sweet boy! Smart boy!

Portland Children's Museum

This is the WATER ROOM, and boy does it have a lot of water-fun. They offer these red smocks for the children to wear in an attempt to keep them dry! Carson cried when it was time to visit another room. He was grooving on the wetness!
This was the GROCERY STORE room and Carson had so much fun filling his cart. At first he thought the apple was real and he sat right down on his bottom, like his mommy taught him when it gets a snack. I had to take the apple away before he tried to bite it!
Ruby picked these flowers right up and sniffed. I was impressed with her ability to put them back into a hole about the size of a dime. This was the Clifford The Red Dog area with lots of fun things, including this garden area.
Fun on the water bed! Wheeeeeeeee........
This tube was full of jingle bells and was such fun to rock back and forth.
The fish tank was a huge favorite. Here Ruby is looking at it from the kelp-side.
Carson is on the other side, pointing to fish and the bubbles at the top of the aquarium.
Carson loved the floor to ceiling mirror and tried to play ball with the little boy with the pink ball that he saw in the mirror!
I turned my back to check on Ruby (KJ had gone to the restroom so I had both to watch!) and little man just walked right down the slide -- and never fell! Of course everything is well padded, but he was fearless.
Ruby was having fun with this structure!
